Project Highlights

Herold Engineering and Durwest worked with Victoria Airport Authority and OMB Architects and the entire project team. The project consisted of an expansion to the existing lower hold room in order to accommodate food & retail areas, washrooms, additional seating and overall increased passenger circulation space as well as additional boarding gates.  Additionally the project included covered walkways and landscaping to the exterior of the building.  Phase 1 of construction was completed in September 2019. Victoria International Airport (Airport Code: YYJ) is the 11th busiest airport in Canada with over 2.0 million passengers per year.  Victoria is well served with more than 100 daily flights throughout North America.  YYJ was rated among one of the top ten most-loved airports in the world by CNN Travel and was twice named ‘Best Regional Airport in North America’ by Airports Council International (ACI).
