Project Highlights

Herold Engineering was retained to provide the structural engineering services for the NANAIMO AIRPORT TERMINAL EXPANSION including preliminary and detailed design and construction services. This project was an addition / renovation project in an existing facility that needed to be operational with extreme security protocols during design and construction. The project consisted of the design and construction of a single storey steel Departure Lounge addition and renovation to the exiting Terminal Building at the YCD Airport in Nanaimo.

Nanaimo Airport’s expansion has increased its terminal size by close to 60 per cent and introduced a more streamlined layout and brighter environment for passengers as demand grows. The $14.2-million project to build a 14,000-square-foot addition began in April 2018. With the addition, the airport is now more than 37,600 square feet.  Times Colonist Article
