Dear Herold Engineering,
I just wanted to let you all know that the community project that I was working on during my Leadership Vancouver Island course, as well after that, was completed last week.
I want to thank you all for the opportunity to go on this program because it was the catalyst to get this park expansion jump-started. If it wasn’t for HEL recommending and encouraging me to attend the LVI program I would not have been involved with this park coming into fruition. This park is a fantastic resource for Nanaimo, as was the main Steve Smith Pumptrack and Dirtjump park, which HEL donated design services for the shelter at the top of the dirt jumps.
Being involved with both projects within my scope with HEL and LVI, as well as the time I have spent privately has been fulfilling personally. As many of you know, I have a thing for mountain biking, and facilities like this are truly world-class. To have a city maintained bike park like this is an amazing facility to have in Nanaimo, and the times I’ve been there it’s been full of kids and adults having fun.
Again, I want to thank everyone for being so supportive of the community here at Herold. It’s one of the reasons it’s a fantastic place to work.
Sincerely,
Kyle Riley, Architectural Technologist, AIBC
